Graduated from the University of Wisconsin-Madison in 2014, Jialu is now a PhD student at the Institute for Molecular Engineering. She loves traveling and has been to many countries. She enjoys hiking in natural views and experiencing local culture in different cities. Jialu also has lots of hobbies, such as playing the guitar and jogging. She completed her first half marathon in sping 2017. As the president, Jialu hopes to make CSSA a big family for all Chinese students and scholars in Uchicago, an organization that gives people feel of belonging.
Minzhe is currently a PhD candidate in statistics department of the University of Chicago. Before he obtained a BS degree from Tsinghua University in 2013, and a MS in statistics from Stanford University in 2015. Besides statistics, he likes work out, driving, joking and various kinds of music.
Jocelyn comes from a small city named Urumqi in northwestern China. She is currently a third-year Economics major and has been a member of CSSA since her first year at UChicago. She is UChicago quirky and enjoys solving math problems, but at the same time she shows off her swag and loves music as well as sports. She is excited about meeting more people at UChicago and sharing with them her stories.
Shiyin is a second-year PhD student in the Department of Public Health Sciences, with a concentration in Health Economics. She graduated from Emory University and Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health. As a vice president, she has taken charge of arranging volunteers to pick up new students from the airport, and been actively involved in many CSSA events and activities. She has enjoyed the company of a 4-year old guinea pig who does nothing but 吃喝拉撒睡. She wishes life can be that easy.
Xingyun is a second-year grad student of MA in Computational Social Science, Division of the Social Sciences. And would take the track of Sociology. She is interested in traveling and photography. As a Vice President, she is in charge of mailing list.
Yuqing has a bachelor degree in Psychology and Advertising from University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. She is now a second year graduate student majoring in Computational Social Science. Chasing for good food is her biggest interest. Among all the yummy stuff in the world, her favorite is pineapple. She also likes dancing Korean pop music, laughing and making other people laugh as well.
Lun graduated from Rice University in 2014, with a B.A. degree in mathematics, statistics and economics. He is currently a fourth-year Ph.D. student at Department of Economics. In Year 2016-2017, He served as co-president of Political Economy Club in the Department of Economics. He will be the treasurer of CSSA in Year 2017-2018.
Yao is a sophomore from the College majoring in biology and statistics. She has interests in hiking, Er-hu (a traditional Chinese instrument) playing, cuisine based on Chinese Traditional Medicine, biking, and reading. As the head of Internal Affairs Department in CSSA, Yao organizes team-building activities, cultural events, etc. that help create a sense of home to Chinese students. She would like to serve every member in CSSA and dedicate herself to her work.
Yangtian is a biological sciences major in the College with a special interest in neurobiology. In his spare time, he enjoys practicing Chinese calligraphy and spending time with friends and family. Serving on the CSSA board, he looks forward to growing with CSSA and helping CSSA’s events reach a wider audience.
Lin comes from Beijing.He is a third-year at the College interested in quantum technology. He is an enthusiast in flying drones, and loves to challenge himself by bouldering. As the director of outreach at CSSA, he works with the outreach team to facilitate interaction between UChicago and companies.
As a rising sophomore at the University of Chicago, Bosong is dedicated in exploring new business strategy and getting to know friends that are interested in various industries. As an associate director of outreaching department of CSSA, he is in charge of leading team members to negotiate with sponsors.
Graduated from the Harris School of Public Policy in 2016, Mengyuan is now a PhD student at the Department of Comparative Human Development. She loves all kinds of arts as long as the arts works can express feelings or tell great stories. She enjoys exploring different restaurants in the city and visiting different places around the country with good friends. She’s trying to be engaged with more athletic activities. However, jogging or cycling along the lake shore possibly are the only two she enjoys so far. Mengyuan hopes to join hands with all the staff of CSSA to bring all Chinese students and scholars coming to the University of Chicago together and feel more at home here.
Siyi is a first-year student in college at the University of Chicago. She is exploring her interests by participating in China Care, which is a volunteer work dedicated helping adopted Chinese children, Ryerson Astronomy Club, and CSSA.
Graduated from Fudan University, Mengwen Zhang has two Bachelor's degrees in Art & Design and Public Administration and a Master's degree in Social Work. As a publicity chair, she has extensive experience in organizing events, designing visual materials, and managing public relations. At the same time, she is also fond of cooking and swimming. Hi guys! My name is Roy and I'm a rising sophomore in the College. I grew up in Beijing as a total native, with a particular fetish of flowers, birds, fish, and insects. At the age of 15, I moved to Vancouver, Canada for high school. Some of my interests developed in high school include cross country running, rowing, and some amateur improv. So if you ever want to run with me in the city or battle against the calm water of Lake Michigan, add me on wechat right away. Serving as your career exploration coordinator this year, I hope to establish a balance between scholarly pursuit and career development in the Uchicago community, both at the graduate and undergraduate level. I’m a graduate student at school of social service administration, getting my second master degree. I come from Sichuan province and graduate from Renmin University of China. I’m an easy-going girl with diverse hobbies. As a social work student, I enjoy being engaged in public benefit activities and helping the vulnerable population in the world. Ang Min is a doctoral student in the Economics program at University of Chicago. His research interests include economy growth & trade, banking & monetary policy, and network economics. Before joining the PhD program, Ang once worked at Hillhouse Capital, China Banking Regulatory Commission and China Investment Corporation. He also wrote research reports for the Central Government of PRC, Bureau of Government Offices, China Galaxy Financial Holdings Company Limited, and Beijing Municipal Government Bureau of Land and Resources etc. He received a B.S. in Management Science and Engineering from the Business School and a M.A. in National Economics from the School of Economics at Renmin University of China in 2013.

Jian Xu is a 3rd year Ph.D. student at department of physics. He was Co-President from 2013-2014. His favorite activities include aligning lasers and satisfying his sports addiction. He likes to interact with people. When Jian joined the physics department, he immediately became the only member of physics to fraternize regularly with chemistry. Helen graduated from the Chinese University of Hong Kong with a B.Sc (Hons) in Financial Risk Management and received her Master's degree in Public Policy from the Harris School, UChicago. She currently works in an economic consulting firm at downtown Chicago, and has exposures and experiences in Hong Kong, Shanghai, New York and Chicago. As the contact for Alumni Relations, she is dedicated to promoting the UChicago CSSA community, better serving both current students and alumni. On a side note, Helen enjoys cooking, running, playing tennis and is a violinist.

Hey everyone, I am Hailing Shi from Changzhou, Jiangsu. After graduating from Peking University, I am now a first year Chemsitry PhD at the University of Chicago. Most of my weekday time I am buried in research experiments, with pain and pleasure, but weekends are more of fun. Cooking, swimming, playing volleyball, and practicing Chinese brush calligraphy are my favorites (and shopping of course!). Chengcheng Song comes from Zhejiang University, Hangzhou, China. He is now a visiting student in UC and will be here for 18 months, sponsored by China Scholarship Council. He plans to finish his dissertation here and gain a doctoral degree in Business Administration in the future. His research fields include nonprofit organizations, social entrepreneurship and strategic management. To be a member of CSSA, is the best way to put his own research ideas into practice.
